Dr. Cam was my doctor since I was 18 years old. I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called alports syndrome. I became pregnant at stage four of kidney failure and Dr. Cam was convincing me to not keep the baby. I told him that the end result will still be the same, me ending up on dialysis, so I decided to keep my baby. I was dr Cam‘s first pregnant patient with kidney Failure. Years go by I got a transplant from my friend and eight years later, I am still healthy. Of course my insurance has changed since I am now employed. My new insurance is out of network with Dr. Cam but it’s PPO so I still decided to see him and he agreed that he would work with me with payments. I even had to go to LabCorp, which was not in my network and it became a big expense. I told Dr. Cam several times of my situation. I’ve had to reschedule appointments because I couldn’t get my blood work done. After so many rescheduled appointments and $150 balance after two years Dr. Cam decided to not be my doctor anymore. I cried, and I cried. Dr. Cam told me that he and his office are not happy with how I cancel my appointments and I have a balance. He said this is affecting the whole office!!! How professional right. He degraded me and said I need to try and find someone who can help me finically. He used really big words while degrading me as a person because I can’t keep up with the bill of $150 balance and a LabCorp bill of $6000. Instead of being heartless, maybe he should’ve been more professional about the situation and said it’s probably best in your interest to go to someone in your network. Not degrade me and say that him and his office isn’t getting paid because of my balance. Thanks Dr cam for what u did while I was your patient. The way u let me go as patient was very unprofessional. The economy is hard for everybody right now, including myself. I just felt after 16 years of being my Doctor, that was really heartless.
