My son has attended both after school and summer camp at the Club and he LOVES it. The new team has made tons of even MORE positive changes this year. The day to day offers more variety (mini camps each day for the kids to choose from) and of course the indoor pool has been renovated and is gorgeous.
The Admin is super organized and communication with parents has never been better. So happy to be part of this amazing organization that is a shining star in our community.

My son has attended 2 Summer Camps and 1 year of Afterschool, I can tell you that Variety is a jewel. Variety has a great "variety" of programs.
The Afterschool program is outstanding and my son really looks forward to coding, robotics and cooking. Most of all he likes that he has choices as to which "club" he can attend and, to him, it doesn't feel like he's in school. The staff creates a very warm and caring environment. The kids are respected. I could go on and on...Thank you Variety!

The BEST after school program/summer camp in Queens! My 10 year old has been in 4 different programs, she was not happy in any place other than The Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable, they offer a mass variety of programs. The summer camp is jam packed full of exciting trips, activities & swimming too! They offer all of this for a fraction of other school programs. Keep up the good work and a big thanks to the staff for being so awesome!

Waste of money, dont bring your kids here if you have morals. Even the staff dont care about the kids. Directors in charge gaslight and only care about their own reputations. Kids there Arent treated well. I worked for them during the summer and I can say they made me question my ability to watch a kid in a gym when My eyes were glued to them the whole time. They make excuses and they don’t even let a counselor try to help take care of a kid. They plan trips in 90+ weather and make the kids walk through this heat.. and then they blame me and my group for trying to give our attention to the kids as if they are slaves. I’d give it -1 stars if I could.

The swimming section of this club is the worst place to take your child to learn swimming. Please do not waste your time and money at this swimming club.
I have been taking my daughter to the swimming classes at this club since June 2016 to Jan 2017.
On Jan 29th 2017 I am ending my 3rd session and I will never return to this club or recommend this place to anyone ever.
They do not heat up the pool properly, the water temp never raises above 77-78 degrees especially during the winter when is freezing outside.
During the winter most of the times the room with the pool is not heated and water is dripping every where from the ceiling creating lost of water puddles in the area where parents are supposed to sit down and/or change the babies (and even more crazy is the fact that the reception is advising you to place newspapers over the water and sit down).
The pool room door never closes (it’s broken and you need to have muscles of steel to push it closed), and because of that, during the fall and winter seasons, all the cold temp from outside lobby gets inside the pool cooling even more the already cold water. My daughter (who is only 20 months) and most of the babies in the class are constantly shivering while in the water, and very often get a cold right after leaving this place. I heard many mothers complaining that their baby got really sick because of the cold water.
The bathrooms and the changing area make you feel that you are in third world country (dirty, complete lack of hygiene, entrance door does not close at all).
After several complains to Ms. Gladys Reyes (the manager or director) addressing to her these issues nothing improved; she always argues that everything is ok and the temp is 83 degrees (when in fact I have photos showing the thermometer indicating 77 degrees). She is never willing to addresses any of these issues to be fixed and most the times she doesn’t even bother to reply my emails.

Variety Boys and Girls Club offers the best swimming classes around. We tried other classes in Astoria and none compare to the price, teachers, results at Variety Boys and Girls Cub. Our daughter started lessons when she was 4 and can now swim all by herself. The classes are held throughout the year (with 2 week breaks in between sessions). There is a structured lesson plan for the classes and sessions. All children are evaluated at the end of each session. The staff and teachers are really supportive. I highly recommend this place for lessons.

if i could rate it less i would!!!! everyone there is very unprofessional! i will immediately discontinue sending my son there. he is in an after school program. my son gets behavioral awards every month from school. yet, two days ago the are calling me to tell me that my son has been misbehaving and has to stay home next couple of days. apparently my son was playing a pool with a small stick and other child was trying to take it away from him. my son ran away and while he was running he hit the child. no one was hart. when they asked kids what happened my son was angry and quiet saying nothing. they assumed that my son was a guilty one. and she said he walked away and this kind of behaviors has been happening all the time while i was hearing it for the firs time ever!!!! i asked supervisor how often does this happen? (him being upset and don't answer to teacher) she told me twice in two month!!!! seriously? today, my son comes home and he says that all day from 2;15 to 6:30 pm he was sitting behind the desk like he was some kind of criminal. I am so angry! i wont leave this case without attention of higher authority. there are worst kids out there and instead of making thisrd grader sit all day behind the desk they need to learn how to communicate with kids. I guess you get what you pay for!!! garbage!

My son attended summer camp for the summer of '16 and thoroughly enjoyed his summer experience. From the variety of field trips and swimming done on a weekly basis, to lessons on health and fitness/sports, he received a full and engaging program that made his summer fun and eventful. We can't wait to go back next year.
