I would highly recommend London Art Portfolio and Director Julia for anyone seeking support in developing their art and/or design practice, and building a portfolio for job or study opportunities.

After a 10 year career, I attended LAP to help steer me through a career change and create a portfolio for postgraduate art school studies. I did an intensive full time fine art foundation course from September - December 2021 as well as supplementary 1-1 tutorials in life drawing and general art practice from January 2021. This experience was transformative - I learnt so many new skills and techniques and was able to refine my practice. Julia provided extensive feedback at every part of the process including portfolio and personal statement writing. I happily got into my top program choices - The RCA, Goldsmiths and Chelsea College of Fine Arts for postgraduate diploma studies.

Thank you to Julia and her incredible team of tutors!

I took a 24-week Portfolio Course at LAP from 2021-2022 to apply to architecture programs in London. I had never completed a portfolio before nor had I taken any courses for sketching or design. I had come from a medical background, completing my pre-medical studies in the U.S. and an MSc in psychiatry, so it was safe to say I had no experience in architecture.

Julia and her incredible team guided me through the entire process: developing skills in observational drawing, mark-making, 3D model-making, folded-paper techniques, 2D and 3D drawing skills, computer-aided design softwares, among others. Not only was I exposed to this portion of the portfolio design process, but we also visited many museums and galleries around London to further extend our knowledge in art/architecture.

Julia was also kind enough to offer career advice, application statement advice, and reference support. Thanks to all her help, I was able to get interviews at every university I applied to. Even though I decided to resume my medical studies, I have her to thank for allowing me to realize that medicine is my true calling. I am forever grateful for everything that I learned during those 24 weeks and highly recommend LAP.

I can’t be more thankful for Julia and the other tutors. I have done the 24 weeks Portfolio presentation course to get prepared for higher education. I have learnt so many different techniques to create an amazing portfolio.
I am grateful because even I knew I would like to study Fashion Design, I had the opportunity to learn about Fine Art, Graphic Design and Architecture as well.
I am a second year Fashion Design student in London, and without Julia’s help I would have been struggled in my first year. She gave me a great experience through the course.
We have visited frequently several exhibitions what was giving me a strong research and inspiration through the projects.
My drawing skills have improved a lot thanks to John. Besides, I met with amazing people.
I would highly recommend London Art Portfolio to anyone who want to study in Art & Design courses.

I couldn’t recommend this course enough.
I have completed the LAP course after my sixth form. Before LAP, I had never had the opportunity to completely dedicate my studies to art, and study art as much as I would have liked to. Because of my lack of experience, I was very unsure about my talent and if my work was good enough to be accepted into an art institution. This course has not only helped me get into the university of my dreams (Goldsmiths, BA Fine Art & History of Art), but has also helped me gain confidence in my abilities as a young artist. I have been able to get into every university I have applied for and I couldn’t have done it without this course.
Julia is an amazing teacher and working closely in a small group of people, who are applying for all sorts of degrees and opportunities in the arts, has been incredibly beneficial, and inspiring.
The course is personalised to your needs, thanks to Julia’s input through group and 1-1 tutorials. She curates both the physical work, and the technical aspects of getting into the university/the job opportunity you are aiming for (ex: application statement advice, presenting your work in a professional manner, finding the right institutions/job opportunities for you, etc.).
I have learned many skills throgh the workshops that were organised: from life drawing, to tutorials with practicing artists, to photoshop learning, mark making, and so much more.
I have carried through some of the projects I have made during my time at LAP into my university practice, and I am continuing to develop them through experimental fibre arts and partaking in different exhibitions. I really believe that LAP has helped me immensely and, having talked to many other students who have done other foundation courses in big institutions, I was reminded again what a great choice this course has been. I truthfully believe that this is the course to go to for a personalised and caring experience, that is tailored for you and what you want.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration and worked for several years in hospitality management. I decided to redirect my career and focus on my lifelong passion, art.
To prepare for such a drastic career change, I decided to join a course at London Art Portfolio, which has been crucially beneficial: the tutors are highly knowledgeable and experienced: LAP has considerably helped broadened my vision of art and the very different forms it can take by working on a range of projects, mediums, and techniques such as collages, observational, perspective and technical drawing, painting, mixed media, and Adobe software. Starting projects with brainstorms of personal thoughts, photographic research, and hand-drawn sketches of works taken from museums and specialised literature has allowed me to design my portfolio.
I had several one-on-one tutorials with Ms Julia Dennis. I recommend her without reservation; she significantly thought and helped with all aspects of creating my portfolio, university application preparation, and interviews.
I have been accepted at several prestigious university master’s degree courses without a BA in Graphic Design, and I am currently studying my master's degree in graphic communication design at Central Saint Martins (University Art London).
I cannot recommend enough LAP; it was a fantastic experience and was absolutely crucial to attaining my career change.
I couldn't have done it without Julia and LAP!

I spent a year working on my creative practise along with putting together a portfolio with Julia, 2-4 hours a week of 1:1 sessions and not only did I secure a place for MA at Chelsea College of Arts in London the following year in my first attempt with no formal arts training, I also graduated 2 years later with distinction.

My success as an artist since graduation also stems from the discipline and structure Julia helped to create around my thinking and creative output which helps me to this day. When I am stuck on a particularly challenging art project, a few hours with Julia still helps me get unstuck.

I cannot recommend enough spending time with Julia because she is one of those rare teachers who genuinely cares about her students and gives her best to each and every one. She will not tell you what to do but will help you arrive at the answers on you own under her guidance and insight as a result every student finds their own way in their own time.

So if you are a student keen to study art, or an artist who is going through a dry patch or just someone who wants to pursue art as a passion, commit to Julia and watch magic unfold!!!

I started having 1-1 sessions back in May 2020 during the pandemic to prepare my portfolio to apply for interior design. Before having the actual sessions, I was able to communicate with the institution and Julia (my main tutor) to schedule the days and times of my classes which were online by zoom based on my time zone. Everything was really organized and planned and I knew exactly what to do for each lesson.

Taking the 1-1 sessions truly helped me to build up my portfolio ( I started from scratch) and I was able to get into all the five universities that I applied for in the UK for the Bachelors program ( University of the Arts London (Camberwell college of arts) Interior and spatial design, Kingston University Interior design, Arts University Bournmouth Interior architecture and design, University of Derby interior design and Bath spa university interior design).

I took the online sessions with Julia and other tutors for about 3 months and I did different projects, researches and creative design development sheets. I was also able to learn Photoshop with Dexter and perspective courses with John which amazed the universities I had an interview with.

London art Portfolio also supported me with my personal statement for UCAS and they helped me to create a strong digital portfolio for all of my universitiest.

I owe Julia a big thank you! I’m so happy that I found this institution and booked my sessions despite all the challenges with online school and the pandemic. Having the sessions with Julia definitely Played an important role in my success in getting accepted into all my choices. She was very understanding and supportive and I learned a lot from her. I did not know anything about the work that I have to put in my portfolio and having these sessions really helped me to expand my knowledge and think in a creative way. I never thought I will be able to get into all of my choices and I have never felt so confident and happy about my work.

I am looking forward to attend the University of the Arts London ( Camberwell college of arts) to study BA interior and spatial design.

I also want to thank my other tutors, Dexter and John for their brilliant lessons on Photoshop and Perspective drawing which played a major role in the strength and success of my portfolio.

I recommend taking courses with London Art portfolio to everyone at any level, they help you to build a strong and an amazing portfolio for any level and they support you through your way in any possible way.

I attended the 12-week Portfolio Course at London Art Portfolio; it was the best decision I have ever made. I have learned much quicker, which was crucial for me to get accepted at many universities. Julia figured out how to help and support us, students, by creating a physical and digital portfolio, despite any challenges caused through Covid19.

We had a hybrid approach, which meant that we visited a few galleries and museums for research and sketching and had many informative and creative online sessions too.

The best thing about this blended approach was that I could continue taking part, even as I returned to Germany. Julia is a fantastic teacher, which helped each one of us to challenge our weaknesses and supported our strengths.

The LAP team knew precisely what the universities I wanted to apply to, look for and helped me create the perfect portfolio. The results demonstrated a broad skill set, which I have developed over time with LAP in my own personal way.

I applied for Bachelor Degree in Architecture Design at all of the following places:
In London, I was accepted by the well-known AA, The Architectural Association School of Architecture, UAL – The University of Arts London and the University of Westminster. Outside of London, I was accepted by Russell Group Universities such as the University of Cardiff and Oxford Brooks University, which I was delighted about. Additionally, I was offered a place in NYC at the Parsons School of Design – The New School.
