My daughter recently attended the Dollhouse Camp at Edgemoor Art Studio, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The instructors were incredibly patient, creative, and nurturing, helping the kids bring their imaginations to life. My daughter came home every day excited to share what she had learned and tell me about her latest creations. The studio provided a warm and welcoming environment where creativity truly thrived. I am so grateful for this memorable experience, and can't wait to enroll her in more programs at Edgemoor Art Studio. Highly recommend!

My kiddo just finished 5 weeks of art camps for the summer! What a blast! Came home at the end of every week with such creative art, a boosted self esteem and happy to have made new friends ? Thank you to the summer camp team at Edgemoor and Ms. Johnson for going above and beyond to give special attention to the medical needs of our child. All parents want to know their child is in good hands. We are so very appreciative to you and the Edgemoor family!

We have heard a lot of positive things about this art studio. We reached out to them to see about enrolling our daughter and it went well at first. We were offered to come in and take a tour and that they would be happy to have our daughter attend.

That is, they were happy to do so until we asked if they have any experience working with children on the spectrum. We came in for the “tour” with our daughter and were given maybe a minute of their time before being brushed aside. They told us they would contact us to get things started. Despite numerous phone calls and emails we have not heard back from them.

Very disappointing that we were not even given a chance to see if this would be a good fit. Our daughter is on the spectrum but is high functioning and very creative. I understand if the owners had concerns about their ability to accommodate someone with special needs but instead of trying to see if they could, we were just given the cold shoulder.

But at the end of the day, people will show you their true colors and that is very true here. If they are going to be ableist and discriminate against our child it’s better to know before we have them our hard earned money.

We dealt with the owner of the studio throughout the entire process. The actions of the owner trump anything you can say in response to my review. I suspect that the response is from the owner as well. We will not be contacting you to give you a second chance. You have shown that we cannot possibly trust you with our child.

We took our son here for art camp this summer and he absolutely loved it!!! He was so shy the first day, not sure what to expect but they opened him with loving arms and made sure he felt comfortable. The second day, he ran right in soo excited for camp and even to this day still talks about how much he enjoyed it! Highly recommend!

My three children have attended Edgemoor art studio for many years. There is no teacher more loving and committed and passionate about my children's growth with not only art but also self-confidence, patience, and self control. Mrs. Johnson loves all of these children as her own. The ratio of staff to students always exceeds minimum standards. We have done various homeschool programs, summer camps and evening classes. It is difficult to convey how wonderful this school is in a short Google review but we have been extremely happy here and recommend her anytime we have the opportunity!

My three children have been attending Edgemoor Art Studio for nearly two years in some form (weekly classes and/or summer camps). We love sending them to a studio that truly focuses on various art techniques as opposed to just arts and crafts style projects. My son, who takes weekly classes, continues to excel, and is very excited to come home and explain what he has learned in his lesson. My other two love taking the art summer camps or open art sessions when they have an off day at school. In addition to teaching their students technique, the instructors instill a sense of pride and confidence in the children. It is truly a wonderful experience for them. And the owner is the loveliest person. My son has a severe food allergy, and she ensures that he has a safe environment. Please check out this studio. You won't be disappointed!

Edgemoor Art Studio is a great place for children of all ages to learn art and/or enhance their current art skills. My daughter started off doing the summer camps and loved it so much she's been enrolled in the weekly classes for 2 years now. She loves what she learns, meeting fellow art students and making friends, and she absolutely adores the staff. The art instructor, Ms. Johnsen is absolutely amazing. She teaches new and old techniques to the students and they create beautiful art work. Sometimes the artwork tells a story, sometimes it shows expression, just amazing the different things that can be done with art. The studio is well kept, everyone is friendly, and the communication with the parents is superb. I highly recommend Edgemoor Art Studio to any person from pre-school through age 18 for art classes. You will not be disappointed. At first glance you may think it looks a little expensive, but honestly when you break out the cost and see the work these students turn out, it's an investment not an expense. Some of our children will be future artists. It is actually quite reasonably priced as well if you do comparisons for the Northern Virginia area in general. They are competitively priced. They offer so much and so many different classes (and in the summer camps!!!). It's an experience your child will cherish and grow from.

Edgemoor has talented teachers who instill a variety of skills and can get kids out of their "I only want to draw this way" rut. They communicate during the week so kids are prepared for their class time, provide in-person instruction for 2 hour blocks, and make sure the kids feel confident with their "mistakes" (which aren't mistakes, as Ms. Johnsen will explain). In only a couple weeks my daughter has learned shading and coloring. She's drawing more in her free time and excited about what she's creating.
