We are currently in our third summer here.
Trailblazers, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
1) Attentive, fun, incredible counselors
2) Chill about timing and letting kids get lost in their own park activities
3) Immersion in love of nature
4) I don't have to fight for a spot (even if I don't sign up, like, 100 months in advance, ugh, Brooklyn)
5) Flexible about which weeks I sign up for and which group within the camp to be with friends
6) Thoughtful and responsive administrators
7) My kids come home every day exhausted and happy as clams.

I love this camp with all my heart. Highly recommended to say the least.

This is the second time my nephew and niece has return without their clothes I sent them with I’m very disappointed both skins has all these bite marks and when I picked him up with clothes was DIRTY! Absolutely unacceptable if it’s adults there why aren’t they helping these children that need the HELP they need better staff that can help these kids that need extra not leave them like that on their like that I would not recommend anyone here to send their children here.

I reached out to this organization multiple times via phone. I left multiple voicemails in the months of April and may. On their voicemail Box it instructs you to send an email for further inquiries and enrollment. I have reached out via email as well multiple and NEVER received a response. This isn’t the first year this has happened to me. I guess the only Cater to a “certain kind”.

Trailblazers is a good camp for your kid if your child is neurotypical and has significant physical stamina. If your child has any sort of different needs, or isn’t generally an easy going kid, they will not have a good time at this camp. The counselors are incredibly sweet, but are mostly young (teenagers) and don’t have the staffing levels or training to really help campers who aren’t already pretty independent.

It really sucks because Trailblazers has a great financial aid program and are one of the only places in the city that does that for summer camp. I wish my kid could have thrived here, but it’s not for us.

Upon speaking with several other ex-trailblazers families, this seems to be a common theme. Their mission is great, and they are truly financially inclusive in a way that most camps aren’t, but my kid unfortunately had a miserable time there due to their lack of ability to accommodate children with different abilities.

I went there as a kid for a couple summers and I had a blast each time. Learned a lot and will have life long memories and made lots of friends in which I still talk to one to this day. Thank you for the memories Trail Blazers!!

TrailBlazers camp is like the highlight of my daughter's life. She loves going to camp and here and we have been so blessed for her to do that 3 years in a row now. The staff are so kind and helpful, and they really go above and beyond to give families an assign experience.

Last year in school, my daughter had an assignment for International Woman's Day to write about a woman who has been a role model in her life. She wrote about her camp counselor Sky from 2021 and how she wants to be as kind, smart, and successful as her!

The staff are very helpful to me with the different scholarship programs. I'm so excited to be wealthy so that I can donate even more to this incredible program in the future.

Christopher and Dahlia are superstar leaders!

At TrailBlazers, my daughter learned to ride a bike and she learned how to swim. She also learned tons of outdoors skills that come up randomly in our everyday life. Not to mention team building skills and confidence.

It's really an opportunity of a lifetime for which we are eternally grateful

My brother and I went to Trail Blazers sleep away as kids and loved it. it was so much fun and nice to get away disconnect , meet new friends and try new activities 10/10 best childhood memories for us

We have had such an incredible experience with Trail Blazers over the last two years. My daughter has done their Brooklyn day camp and we also enrolled in their Bubble option they offered during the last school year when kids were on a hybrid schedule at the public schools.

My daughter is thrilled to go to camp each day, has loved all of her counselors, learned a lot (surprised to know my 5 year old knows about invasive plant species that she learned at camp), and has made wonderful friends there. As a parent, I’ve been very impressed with how nimble they were during COVID times, putting in place great programming in a short amount of time to address the needs of families. The communication from Trailblazers has always been thoughtful and thorough.

We look forward to continuing to be part of Trailblazers in years to come!
